The following alphabetical list is of minor and briefly mentioned characters found in the parahumans series. These characters played small to nonexistent roles in the main plotlines.

This page is for normal humans. For minor parahuman characters, see the List of Parahuman Characters.

Alan Barnes[]

Divorce lawyer and father of Emma and Anne Barnes. Husband of Zoe Barnes. Work friend of Carol Dallon. He is a redhead, like Emma.[1] Works to protect Emma and Shadow Stalker; after Emma's actions are publicly exposed and Taylor is outed presumably suffers a loss of standing. Blames Taylor for Emma's death.

Allie Frazier[]

Good with a guitar and music. Resigned to her life in the fallen. She crushed hard on Lachlan.

Anne Barnes[]

Emma Barnes' older sister. Was preparing to leave for college when Emma was attacked by the ABB. Was likely about to end her sophomore year at college during canon start. She was present with her family during the battle at Forsberg Gallery.[2]

Brooks[]

Works as a medic for Coil. Has an acerbic personality that seems at odds with his skills and focus as a medic.

Performed surgery on Skitter and has some skill when dealing with poisons.

Bullet[]

Bullet is a former fighting dog that got injured and dumped at a pound,[3] where the injury healed incorrectly. She tried to scam food from her new masters 'friend'.[4] When an Endbringer came to Brockton Bay she was sent by her master to help. She died valiantly and her master carved her name on the Endbringer Fight Memorial.

Cami[]

Cami is a member of Gilpatrick’s Patrol Group at Wayfair High School, along side Jasper.

Appearance[]

She could be said to have a permanent scowl. Perpetually pissed. Dressed in similar shades as Gilpatrick. Blacks and grays.[5]

Cubs[]

Cubs is a member of Gilpatrick’s Patrol Group at Wayfair High School, alongside Jasper.

Appearance[]

A large gentlemen, tall, broad-shouldered, fit, with his hair cut short. Dressed in similar shades as Gilpatrick. Blacks and grays.[6]

Dimitri[]

Dimitri was a sniper that worked for Coil. He was second-in-command of the group loaned to Tattletale. Along with Minor, Dimitri was one of the soldiers that Tattletale trusted enough to run her shelter and background activity.

Director Hearthrow[]

Director Hearthrow is the Director of Parahuman Response Team Department Four in Chicago.

History[]

Director Hearthrow used to be a soldier. He ran Weaver's operation with certain restrictions: surveillance had to be airtight, with check-ins, breaks that had to fall between check-ins, and restrictions on Weaver entertaining herself or drawing attention. He believed that compromising with Weaver would be disastrous, as she'd always take a mile from any concession. He was right.

Doctor Q[]

Doctor for Coil's Organization and others.

Everlyn[]

The daughter of Love Lost. She was tragically killed in an attack by the Fallen on a mall, that ended in the Mall Cluster being created.

Gerry[]

Gerry is a former dockworker who worked alongside Danny Hebert. He was a burly man, black and Irish. A rumor circulated that Gerry found work as one of Über and Leet’s henchmen.[7]

Jaw[]

Mercenary for Coil

Jay[]

Former member of the defunct Azn Bad Boys and Yan's boyfriend. He is Japanese-American, has a bad slouch, and has a shaggy mop of hair that covers his eyes. He wasn't very muscular, but had a cold demeanor, unfazed by working with corpses.[8] He has a distinctly American accent.[9]

During the Slaughterhouse Nine's visit to Brockton Bay, Jay along with Sugita and Yan sought employment as muscle under Skitter. The three of them helped clean up areas in Skitter's territory, living in a garage in the Docks.[10] With their living conditions dismal and feeling abandoned when their leader, Skitter, had disappeared to fight the Nine, resentment quickly grew within the group. After the three helped in moving the corpses of those killed in an attack by Mannequin, they followed Sierra into Skitter's base, knowing Skitter had been absent for days. Armed with guns, they threatened the girls and the kids, planning to evict them and take over the base. As Yan was about to shoot Sierra's hand, Skitter and her pet Atlas returned, easily incapacitating the three. She threatened them with venomous spiders, then used non-lethal spiders to bite and scare them. She then told them to leave, informing them that they were no longer welcome in Brockton Bay and telling them to find a hospital out of the city.[11]

John Druck[]

Union man and politician.

Landon[]

Landon is an ‘objective observer’ assigned by Gilpatrick to study Victoria while on a patrol assignment.[12]

Leah[]

A fit woman who joined the The Chosen, at the behest of Coil's Organization.

Lisette[]

The most powerful woman in the world.

By giving money to a homeless man and listening to his story she inherited the position.[13]

Went to the authorities and told her incredible tale, was released and the report was filed.[14]

Would have a conversation with Cauldron about Scion's real appropriated name.[15]

Mar[]

Mar is an ‘objective observer’ assigned by Gilpatrick to study Victoria while on assignment. He knows there are secrets about her. He made smug insinuations about Victoria’s name and background. He tries to get a rise out of her by saying her full name aloud on a bus full of fellow patrollers.

He realizes Victoria is a cape during an assignment to keep the peace at an assembly announcing a new hero team with Fume Hood.

Once Jasper reveals this assignment was a setup with Mar and Landon, Mar becomes quiet and follows orders.

Minor[]

Merc for Coil

Mr. Quinlan[]

Mr. Quinlan was Taylor's math teacher. He appeared only during the discussion into Taylor's accusation of bullying, speaking to defend the school's lack of action in concerns to Taylor's bullying.

Mrs. Knott[]

Mrs. Knott is a teacher at Winslow High, and Taylor's homeroom teacher.[16]

Appearance[]

Mrs. Knott was initially described as tall, broad-shouldered, and had a strong jaw. Her generally feminine style of dressing and her long blonde hair contrasted with her masculine features.[17] However, this passage was removed in a later edit, meaning it may no longer be canon.[18]

Personality[]

Mrs. Knott wasn't a very hands-on teacher with the advanced students, preferring to give them an in-class assignment and then focus on the more rambunctious majority for the rest of the class.[18]

History[]

She taught Taylor Hebert's Computer class.[19][20]

During the conference discussing Taylor's bullying in Hive 5.4, Mrs. Knott was the only faculty member noted to have seated on Taylor's side of the table. However, this may just have been due to the fact that there were no other seats available.[21] This is reinforced in that she is seen to have made little attempt to defend Taylor.

Polka[]

Poka by SG

As Nilbog's very first creation and friend, Polka was his favorite. By the time Nilbog is first encountered, during Sting 26.4, there had been three versions of Polka, as Nilbog's creations could only live for a limited time. Polka was a blue-skinned, white-haired female creature with a long, narrow tail. Her face was narrow with a reptilian structure, having four fangs at the front, with skin that was very smooth and human-like. She wore clothing more appropriate for toddlers.[22]

A fourth version of Polka was also created by Nilbog. It is unknown if this was before, during, or after his captivity and torture at the hands of The Nine. Possible when he was making soldiers to fight Zion.[23] This fourth Polka was the parent of Dot. Dot lamented that she was the child of the fourth Polka, as she considered the third Polka to be the most beautiful and clever of the four, to which Nilbog responded that the fourth Polka was clever as well.

Principal Blackwell[]

Principal Blackwell was the principal of Winslow High school and was only seen during the discussion of misconduct of Taylor's bullying incidents.[24] She may have been pushed by the PRT.[25] She was described as "a narrow woman, dirty blond, with that severe bowl-cut haircut," and her dress appeared to be like "attending a funeral."

Pritt[]

Former child soldier that worked under Coil. Worked for Tattletale after Coil's death. Among Tattletale's mercenaries, she was liked best by Bryce, who found her attractive. She taught him self defense, training him how to use guns and knives in hopes of boosting his confidence.[26]

Renick[]

Renick was the Deputy Director of the Brockton Bay branch of the PRT. He found himself in command during the Echidna crisis. He was disappointed when Miss Militia brought the Undersiders in but had not arrested them.

Senegal[]

Big mercenary for Coil.

Sugita[]

Former member of the defunct Azn Bad Boys. He is in his early twenties and has a thick Japanese accent, thick enough to be barely recognizable as English. His broken English and accent make it likely that he is a Japanese immigrant.[27]

During the Slaughterhouse Nine's visit to Brockton Bay, Sugita along with Jay and Yan sought employment as muscle under Skitter.

The Gails[]

The Gails were Theo's foster parents. Mr. and Mrs. Gail also looked after ten other children, ages ranging from from four to seventeen. Mrs. Gail was not known indulging the children, as Theo noted the event of her bringing him an ice cream sandwich, something that the other foster kids were not rewarded.[28]

"White Fairy"[]

Parahumans Online user and girlfriend of Mr. Gladly. Her civilian name is unknown, but she goes by the username "White Fairy" on Parahumans Online. She is blonde and taller than her boyfriend.

White Fairy was briefly seen alongside Mr. Gladly in an Endbringer shelter. When Leviathan attacked the shelter, she screamed and buried her face into Mr. Gladly's shoulder. Her presence irrationally irritated Taylor, as she thought of White Fairy as someone who only saw Gladly's "cool teacher" side, oblivious to his actual failings as a teacher.[29] While White Fairy made it out of the shelter alive due to Skitter's distraction, Mr. Gladly was killed by Leviathan.[30]

On Parahumans Online, White Fairy is a veteran user and a frequenter of the Brockton Bay board. She was one of the users qualified to give out the "Brockton Bay Refugee" and "At Ground Zero: Brockton Bay" user badges, verifying eligible users and even meeting them in real life to make sure. She also gave reports on the happenings in Brockton Bay, including one report on a quarantine set up in the aftermath of the battle against Echidna.[31]

Both White Fairy and Mr. Gladly are based on people that Wildbow knew in real life.[32]

Yan[]

Yan is a member of the Azn Bad Boys. She is Chinese-American and has a petite figure,[33] a ring pierced through her nose, and wore purple eye shadow at the time of the attack.[34] Her voice sounded young.[35]

Yan was part of the group that attacked Emma and Alan Barnes in the alleyway, doing it as part of her initiation into the ABB. Helped by the other members, she was about to mutilate Emma's face before Emma lashed out in panic and Shadow Stalker intervened, taking them all out.[36] Later, a while after the collapse of the ABB, Yan along with Sugita and her boyfriend Jay approached Skitter's base on the Boardwalk, looking for employment as muscle. While still wearing a nose ring, she no longer had eye shadow and sported a thousand-yard stare.[33]

Zoe Barnes[]

Wife of Alan Barnes and mother of Emma Barnes.

  1. “Not a problem, not a problem,” my dad laughed easily. He shook the hand of the red cheeked, red haired man. Alan Barnes. “These days, we can count it as a good thing if we're busy. Is your daughter here?” - Excerpt from Hive 5.3
  2. I could have laughed. She was standing there in the crowd with her parents and older sister, looking scared shitless in a little sky blue dress and blue sandals. Her dad was a high profile divorce lawyer. I supposed it was possible he’d worked for someone famous or powerful enough that his family hadn’t needed an invitation or expensive tickets to get in. - Excerpt from Tangle 6.5
  3. “The one you were talking to a few minutes ago is Bullet. She’s the smartest in the group. Her breed craves exercise, they’re meant to run around all day with hunters… except she was used as a beta to warm dogs up for one of the dogfighting rings around here and her shoulder was torn up pretty badly. Even with the shoulder healed as well as it’s gonna get, it hurts too much for her to run as much as she needs.”

I spotted Bullet in the crowd. Sure enough, she was lagging behind the rest. I thought maybe she was favoring one leg.

“If your power heals, why doesn’t it help her? Or Angelica’s eye and ear?”

Bitch shrugged. “Lisa said it has something to do with me making a ‘blueprint’. It’s babble to me. All I know is that it doesn’t help older health problems. It gets rid of disease and cancer, and parasites, and most damage they take when they’re big. That’s all.”

“I think I get it,” I told her. I looked at Bullet, who had stopped running and was sitting in the middle of the field, watching others run. “Do they all have stories like that?”

    “Most.”

“Damn,” I felt a pang of sympathy for the animals.

The herd of dogs returned to me, and a shaggy dog dropped the ball at my feet.

“Good dog,” I told it. I threw the ball, aiming to get it near Bullet, and the herd of dogs rushed off again, with more than a few excited barks. - Excerpt from Buzz 7.3
  4. A white dog with a nub of a tail and chestnut colored patches on its body and over its ears approached me, sitting to stare at me as I took my first bite of my wrap.

I swallowed, and I told the dog, “No. This is too good to share, and it probably wouldn’t be good for you anyways.”

The dog cocked its head quizzically.

“You are awfully pretty, though,” I told it. - Excerpt from Buzz 7.3

  7. “You know Gerry?” my dad asked.

    I shrugged.

“You met him once or twice when you’ve visited me at work.  Big guy, burly, Black Irish?”

Shrugging again, I took a bite of french toast.  My dad was part of the Dockworkers Association, as the Union spokesperson and head of hiring.  With the state of the Docks being what they were, that meant my dad was pretty much in charge of telling everyone that there were no jobs to be had, day after day.

“Rumor’s going around he found work.  Guess with who.”

“Dunno,” I said, around a mouthful of food.

“He’s going to be one of Über and Leet’s henchmen.” - Excerpt from Insinuation 2.1
  8. She looked at him. He was tired, but she didn’t see any signs of the same emotional drain she was experiencing herself. He’d been a gang member in the ABB, had preyed on others, maybe even killing. This job didn’t faze him in the slightest. Behind his shaggy hair, his narrow eyes were cold, uncaring. He could have been carrying groceries for all he seemed to care. - Excerpt from Interlude 14.x
  9. A Japanese guy with a mop of hair covering his eyes and a bad slouch looked from Sierra to me and spoke in a very American accent, “You still looking for muscle?”

He didn’t look like he had much muscle, but I wasn’t about to comment on that.  If nothing else, I was a little too stunned at what he was offering to say anything witty.  “Pretty much.” - Excerpt from Plague 12.8

  16. We would have been completely isolated from the mass of people at the other side of the table if Mrs. Knott, my homeroom teacher, hadn’t sat at my left.  I wondered if she would have, if there’d been another seat. - Excerpt from Hive 5.4
  17. Mrs. Knott was a tallish, broad shouldered and strong jawed woman. She kind of looked like a caricature of a transvestite with her long blond hair and trying-too-hard-to-be-girly dress and blouse. You just had to imagine her with stubble on her chin or hairy legs and she was the image of a man doing a very bad job at passing as a woman. She was an alright teacher though; she was usually content to give us advanced students an in-class assignment and then focus on the more rambunctious majority for the rest of the class. - Insinuation 2.2 (Internet Archive)
  18. 18.0 18.1 Mrs. Knott was an alright teacher, if not the most hands on; she was usually content to give us advanced students an in-class assignment and then focus on the more rambunctious majority for the rest of the class. - Excerpt from Insinuation 2.2.

  21. We were directed down the hall to where the guidance counselor's offices were, a room with an egg-shaped conference table. The trio and their guardians were seated at one end of the table, seven in total, and we were asked to sit at the other, the tip of the egg. The principal and my teachers all came into the room not long after, filling in the seats between us. Maybe I was reading too much into things after seeing an eerie echo of this situation just two days ago, with the meeting of villains, but I noted that Mr. Gladly sat next to Madison's dad, and the chair next to my dad was left empty. We would have been completely isolated from the mass of people at the other side of the table if Mrs. Knott, my homeroom teacher, hadn't sat at my left. I wondered if she would have, if there'd been another seat. - Hive 5.4
  22. “Four years. Sometimes five.” All at once, the light was gone from Nilbog’s face, the sudden fury quenched.

    “Who’s your favorite?” Jack asked.

“Polka,” Nilbog said. He reached out, and a female creature, no taller than three feet, hopped up onto the lap of the creature beside her king. She had a narrow face with a reptilian structure, with only four fangs at the very front, but smooth, humanlike skin. Her hair was white, her skin blue. She wore a toddler’s clothes, a long, narrow tail lashing behind her. Nilbog stroked her hair.

“Not the first Polka,” Jack said.

    “No. The third.”

“She was your first, and you love her for that, because she drew you from the hell that was your life before godhood, gave you this.” - Excerpt from Sting 26.4
  23. A good fifth of our fighting force here was made up of Nilbog’s creatures and Dragon’s suits, which self-repaired and kludged together with the remains of other damaged suits to return to the field again and again.

    [...]

He was throwing punches again, hurling himself into the thickest parts of the crowd. Nilbog’s creations were taking the brunt of the attack.

    [...]

We were distant enough that I could see the circle of golden light expanding around them, a ring that ripped through the ground, demolishing it.

Nilbog’s creations, the defending forces and Dragon’s suits were all toppled as the ground settled. Buildings collapsed.

A wounded Leviathan emerged from the water, approaching Scion with an almost lazy slowness. Capes practically fought one another to get their footing and get out of the way. Some were too rough in their hurry to get by Nilbog’s creations, only to get attacked by the things in retaliation. - Excerpt from Speck 30.2
  24. Hive 5.4
  25. Blackwell was pushed by the PRT to go soft on Sophia. - Wildbow on Reddit
  26. “I’d rather he wasn’t learning how to use weapons.  If he’s getting in a situation where he needs to fight, you guys aren’t keeping your end of the deal.”

“That would be Pritt.  He thinks she’s attractive, and listens to her best, so Minor has her accompany him much of the time.  She is a former child soldier, she would have thought self-defense was a good way to regain confidence after the boy lost his fingers.” - Excerpt from Interlude 14.x
  27. The second Japanese guy spoke up. He was in his early twenties and his accent was thick enough that I didn’t realize he was speaking English at first. He pronounced ‘girl’ more like ‘gurru’. “Other day, girl was knocking on neighbor’s door, talking about you. Said you was good boss. Nice, generous, fair. But we think that means you weak, before, not so much of that now.” - Excerpt from Plague 12.8
  28. Interlude 26b
  29. Mr. Gladly was near the back of the crowd, with a blond woman that was taller than him, holding his hand.  It bugged me, in a way I couldn’t explain.  It was like I felt he didn’t deserve a girlfriend or wife.  But that wasn’t exactly it.  It was like this woman was someone who maybe liked him, heard his side of things, validated his self-perception of being this excellent, ‘cool’ teacher.  A part of me wanted to explain to that woman that he wasn’t, that he was the worst sort of teacher, who helped the kids who already had it easy, and dropped the fucking ball when it came to those of us who needed it.

It was surprising how much that chance meeting bugged me. - Excerpt from Extinction 8.5
  30. ►  White Fairy (Veteran Member) (At Ground Zero: Brockton bay)
    Replied on July 6th:
My boyfriend.  He was in a shelter Leviathan attacked.  Only about half of us made it.  One of the heroes bailed us out.  Distracted the Endbringer and led him away.  Nc. - Excerpt from Interlude 19.y
  31. •  June 20th:  Massive deployment to Brockton Bay.  Unspecified class A threat.  Cape wives on the boards confirm: something’s up.
Two hours later:  Threat level upgraded to class S.  All Protectorate capes who subscribed to the emergency response measure and accompanying pay increase now forced to get over to Brockton Bay and help.  Legend and Alexandria are among them.
We have a report (see link) from White Fairy, one of three more notable board members on the ground in Brockton Bay, who says they started establishing quarantine procedures around the site of the battle. - Excerpt from Interlude 19.y
  32. White Fairy and Mr. Gladly are actually based on people I know. It was a head-trip, because WF was someone I'd known since I was young, and I was talking with her- she asked me about my teacher Mr. G, and I gave my honest opinion.

Turned out she was dating him and was considering breaking up with him.

But the headtrip was me having to recontextualize the guy in my head to be someone with an existence beyond school, when he was just such a shallow human being and a poor teacher. - Wildbow on Discord (Screenshot)
  33. 33.0 33.1 Sierra was in the company of a pair of Japanese boys and a petite Chinese girl with a pierced nose and a thousand-yard stare. There was a degree of attitude coming from them that was all too familiar. Gang members. Of course. Just because Lung and Bakuda were no longer around didn’t mean there wouldn’t be scraps of the ABB in the area. They wouldn’t be liked, but they were there, they were equipped for trouble and criminal activity was all they knew. - Excerpt from Plague 12.8
  34. She was outnumbered, and many of them were stronger than her, even with the adrenaline feeding into her. Two held her arms out to either side, and someone knelt just behind her, knees pressing hard against the side of her head, keeping her from turning it. Looking up, she could see a girl, not much older than her, sporting a nose ring and a startling purple eye shadow. She was wearing Emma’s jacket. - Excerpt from Interlude 19.z
  35. “Here, Yan,” one of the guys said, his accent almost musical.  “You owe me.”

“Sweet!”  The voice sounded young. - Excerpt from Interlude 19.z
