Hi! My name is SilverFlight, and I'm the Fandom Wiki Manager for the WORM Wiki. I am here to help the community and be a liaison to full-time Fandom staff. If you ever have a question or issue relating to the wiki, editing, etc., please contact me on my message wall.
In addition, I'm happy to inform you that Fandom is upgrading its MediaWiki platform to accommodate MediaWiki extensions. You can read more about here on the blog post.
Hello FossilLord! I wanted to inform you of a few things. First, there is a new Special:Analytics page you can request and access on the admin dashboard! In this way, you can use it to keep track of the number of edits daily, and which users are contributing. More info is available on the Help:Analytics dashboard and the blog post.
I also wanted to let you know that the Worm Wiki will be undergoing an SEO test; this is for anonymous/non-logged-in users who, when they click on a file page, will be redirected to the article pages where the file was used/input the first time when anonymous/non-logged-in users click the link. For example, if they find a picture from the wiki on Google and click it, they won't be directed to the file page; it will go to the article page it was on. The hope is that this will help your community eliminate low quality, low value pages and enrich it inside Google searches. The test won't affect logged-in and verified users and there will be no difference; they will still be able to access the file page.
Have any questions? Thoughts? Or do you think there should be a notice in the community? Let me know!
Hi again! I'm happy to announce FANDOM is releasing the Editor Rewards program honoring the hard work of users with awards those that have gained recognition for their contributions. Details are on this blog post, and it'd be most appreciated if you could give some feedback on said blog post. Please message me if you have any questions!
Hi again! I'm happy to introduce to you the new feature called the Global Taxonomy. This formula accumulates wikis a user visits, and generates a list of recommended wikis for them to visit. In other words, people who have an interest for a topic or genre you entail will be recommended a chance to visit this wiki! That will be perfect for garnering visitors here. You can read more about it on the blog, plus if you're interested in template use, you can check out this link, too. Hope you find them helpful!
Hi there! Quick update on FANDOM's end-of-the-year term. First, there will be changes with featured videos: as of the end of this December, "Featured" Video will be receiving some trial run experiments in hopes of improving its quality, reasons being that videos featured on a page tend to be outdated or spout all the information the user can already read on the article. The main goal will be to figure out how to complement wiki content. Because of that, you might receive a video called "The Loop" play for anonymous users, that will be meant purely to collect visitation data in vein of the Global Taxonomy method. It won't affect all users, so you might not notice. But if you want to learn more, you can go to the blog post. For more info on Fandom's year in review, you can check out the community post. Let me know if you have any questions, and happy holidays!
I guess so. Depends how much personal control you have over server, I'm not up to Discord hosting structure myself, thus the question.
The general problem is the same as with any hotlinking to third parties, stuff tends to die in unpredictable manner unless copied. As happened with dropbox, for example, or some older imagehosts as they monetize and start to cut corners. Rehosting to wikia is just more secure.
Hello. You're the most recently active admin, so I'm contacting you about setting up column tags on the main page. Currently, all of the content is being pushed down by the ad that appears in the upper right corner (screenshot). The content on the main page is already separated into left and right columns, so adding the column tags would be very simple and easy, especially considering that all of each column's content is being embedded with its own template. Adding the columns tags would look like this in code form:
With the column tags in place, the larger left column will always appear at the top of the page, while the smaller right column will appear under the ad. The content of the main page looks great, and it's a shame that it's all being pushed down, which is why I wanted to gives you a heads-up. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
I also just realized that on smaller screens (resolutions less than 1,680 pixels wide), the right column is currently getting cut off (screenshot). This is due to the width of the content in the left column, specifically the tables that include the images for Parahumans and Powers. The size value on the [[File: wikitext for those images will need to be decreased so that the total width of each row of the table equals 700 pixels or less. While editing the page, you can easily test it to see if the right column would be cut off by clicking the Preview button and selecting "Desktop" from the drop-down at the upper left corner.
If you'd prefer that I make these changes so that you don't have to bother with it, I'd be happy to. Just let me know.
Hi FossilLord, you seem to be in charge here, so pardon me for dumping work on you, but I don't know who else to dump it on. Due to not watching my typing carefully enough, I managed to create the misspelled redirect Ashely Swan in addition to the correctly spelled Ashley Swan, and I can't work out how to mark the former for deletion, so can you delete it? It serves no purpose except as a misspelling, and Wikia doesn't seem to want redirects from misspellings. Thanks in advance for cleaning up after my inattention.
Hello. Worm Wiki looks good but you have about 300 pages marked as stub articles, which is more than 1/5th of the wiki content. Please sort through these and let me know here when there are only about 210 or less; I will be happy to check back again.
